This guide will walk you through the types of valid identification accepted for fingerprinting. Whether you're in Tracy, the Bay Area, or anywhere in the state, having the correct ID on hand streamlines the entire process.

Key considerations include:

Presenting at least one government-issued photo ID
Ensuring your name matches exactly across all submitted documents
Knowing which supplemental forms of ID are acceptable when primary options aren’t available
No expired or temporary ID's are accepted
No pictures or photo copies of ID are accepted

Primary ID - You only need one from this list, no additional ID required

 State-issued driver’s license*

 U.S. Passport or U. S Passport Card

 Federal Government Personal Identity Verification Card (PIV)

 Uniformed Services Identification Card

 Department of Defense Common Access Card

 Foreign Passport with Appropriate Immigration Document(s) (e.g., Form I-94)

 USCIS – Permanent Resident Card (I-551)

 USCIS – Employment Authorization Card (I-766)

 Federal, state, or local government agency ID card with photograph

 U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Card

 Canadian driver’s license

* For those applicants without a license, a state identification card may be presented if the state identification card standards are the same as for the driver’s license.

If you don't have an ID from the Primary List you will need a total of 4 documents. 2 from category A and 2 from category B

 U.S. Government Issued Consular Report of Birth Abroad

 Draft record

 School ID with photograph (minimum age 7 years old, or transaction will be rejected by DOJ) * If under 18

 Certificate of Citizenship (N560)

 Replacement Certificate of Citizenship (N-561)

 Certificate of Naturalization (N550)
